Commemorative medal for the first official airmail flight between the USA and France on the Fokker C2 AMERICA from New York on 29 June to Ver-sur-Mer on 1 July 1927. It was also the first civil aviation flight, the first flight with a crew of four, and the first use of a radio transmitter/receiver to communicate with the ground. The beam from the Ver-sur-Mer lighthouse enabled the crew, lost in bad weather and running out of fuel, to reach Ver-sur-Mer and land at sea, saving the crew and the mail bag...
