A new historic piece joins our collection!

We are delighted to announce the acquisition of an original envelope that travelled aboard the America during its transatlantic flight from New York to Ver-sur-Mer from 29 June to 1 July 1927.

Bearing the 'U.S. AIR MAIL' logo, the envelope was addressed to Mr Louis Fischmann via the United States Ambassador in Paris (the abbreviation 'C/O' meaning 'in care of'). Despite nearly a century having passed since this historic journey, the envelope has reached us in remarkably good condition....

European Heritage Days, 2025

On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, the America & Gold Beach Museums are pleased to offer free guided tours (in French) at 3:00 PM on Saturday, September 20 and Sunday, September 21.

Come and discover (or rediscover) the history of the first airmail flight between the United States and France in 1927, as well as the events that took place on D-Day in 1944 on Gold Beach.

Three New Photos Join the America Museum’s Collection!

It’s not every day that we get the chance to discover new images of the America, but this time, it’s true!

A few months ago, a generous donor visited us to share some photographs from her personal collection, thinking they might be of interest. And she was absolutely right : they are of great interest to us!

With her permission, we were able to digitize these photos for preservation purposes and add them to the museum’s collection.

Sunday, 8 June at noon, ceremony at the Green Howards monument in Crépon

On Sunday, 8 June at 12 noon, the traditional remembrance ceremony will take place at the Green Howards monument in Crépon to commemorate the soldiers of the 6th and 7th Battalions of the Green Howards who fell during the Battle of Normandy.

Set-up will begin 15 minutes before the start of the ceremony.

The ceremony will be followed by a friendly gathering in front of the community hall.

Our Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday 8 May at 2.30pm in the Salle municipale de la plage, Place Churchill, Ver-sur-Mer. Our meeting will be followed by a talk by Colonel (ER) Xavier Liffran on General Ailleret, Verois, former Army Chief of Staff, Resistance fighter and Chief of Staff of the ORA Nord, who was deported to the Buchenwald camp in the summer of 1944.
